Children with special needs
Do you have a child who has been assessed as having sensory processing difficulties and needs extra support with activities to alleviate this?
Perhaps your child is in a mainstream school but struggling to keep up/ finish pieces of work? Does your child need extra help with social skills such as listening and turn-taking in order to play with others?
Does your child enjoy creative freedom but is not getting much opportunity to express this in the school time-table?
For such children the pressure of academic learning is sometimes overwhelming and different approaches in another environment can help
Sessional activities are provided for children with special educational needs which include learning through sensory play, making junk art, construction work, nature-based activities, outings and extra homework help to explore topics in greater depth, at a better pace.
More than anything I understand the stress that children experience in learning about the world and, as an understanding adult with good experience of these difficulties, aim to make these sessions fun but calming and confidence building. Aspects of meditation, yoga and mindfulness are used in the sessions.
I have a big interest in forest schooling, have worked in a forest school and am training at level 1 currently. I aim to bring learning to children through the natural world as much as possible
